BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Construction has begun on a new multi-million dollar attraction on Buffalo's east side.
Mayor Byron Brown announced Thursday that the city will be using $4.1 million to reconstruct the MLK, Jr. Park Humboldt Basin. The money will be used to turn the park into a year-round attraction, that will attract people from across the region.
Mayor Brown said, "And what it will be in the summer time it will be a splash pad, which the kids love in the summer and is going to be very well used. In the spring and the fall, it will be a reflecting pool. And in the winter it will be frozen and iced for ice skating. So this will now be a year-round feature that the community can enjoy."
This project is part of the city's ongoing effort to transform all city park areas.
