BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The city's only daily newspaper has been under fire for their coverage of the murders on Main Street.

Protesters of the newspaper have gathered outside Buffalo's City Hall.

Earlier in the week it was the burning of newspapers, but now more fallout from an article in last Sunday's Buffalo News.

Thursday morning a group of protesters showed up at the Buffalo News building in downtown Buffalo.

If you recall, the paper published an article detailing the criminal past of the victims from the mass shooting outside of City Grill.

The group protesting Thursday believe the paper singled out the victims because of race, they want a meeting with news editors and in the meantime, they're calling for the community to boycott the newspaper.

Community Activist Darnell Jackson said, "We're going to go to our businesses in our community and ask them to stop selling Buffalo News papers out of their businesses, or we're going to stop doing business in their business. We're going to target advertisers too. You advertise in the Buffalo News, we want you to understand that this is serious and if you really care about the people in the City of Buffalo then you would stop subscribing to the Buffalo News, at least til they come to the point where they need to straighten this out, 'cause it's wrong and they need to make it right."

The Buffalo News has previously released a statement, saying the information is an important piece to the puzzle, as the community tries to understand why the shooting happened in the first place.

News 4 is told a meeting has been set up with News editors and True Bethel Baptist Church, for next Wednesday.
