BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Preservationists are rolling out their wish list for Buffalo's budding Erie Canal harbor.
Wednesday night the Campaign for Greater Buffalo History, Architecture and Culture unveiled a list of proposals that pay respect to the heritage of the canal district.
Tim Tielman of the Campaign for Greater Buffalo said, "We want to extend the Erie Canal, have it on the same level that the commercial slip that it is now, and build the buildings according to the historic guidelines that emulate the buildings that were there before, three, four story brick buildings, not a glass and steel shopping mall."
Preservationists are also pushing for a new inter-city rail station to replace the small Amtrak station nearby. Find all the stories about progress on harbor development here.
