BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Angry residents staged a burning of the Buffalo News Monday, protesting an article detailing the criminal histories of several of the Main Street shooting victims.
Protesters said Sunday's story about the backgrounds of those shot was "disrespectful" to the victims' and their families.
More than a dozen protesters burned copies of the Buffalo News and urged people to boycott the paper. They also demanded that those who were responsible for the article be fired.
They also claimed the article was racist.

Community Activist Darnell Jackson said, "The article period is racist. To exploit black children about a past history is racist. You don't see no articles about white children when they get arrested or when they get murdered, and they all get solved. What's taking so long to solve this one?"
"In certain instances they put our kids in the paper right after something happens, like they deserved it or something. That's what I'm standing against," said Bishop Perry Davis, of the Stop the Violence Foundation.
