BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Local cancer survivors and their families rallied at Roswell Park Cancer Institute to push Congress to protect funding for cancer research.

The event was one of hundreds in all 50 states this week where advocates collected messages of hope for a future without cancer. All of the messages collected will be delivered to members of Congress next week.

Since the mid-70's the five-year survival rate for all cancers has increased from 50 to 68 percent.
