BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Hundreds of swimmers hit the water to raise money for a good cause.
They swam in Lake Erie off Gallagher Beach in Buffalo in the ninth annual "Carly's Crossing." Swimmers could take part in a 600-yard or one-mile course. The swim was followed by a beach party with face painting, bounce houses and games. Proceeds support Carly's Club for Kids and cancer research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Chris McNamara of Carly's Crossing said, "The money all stays with Roswell, to help fund pediatric cancer research, and support our programs for Carly's Club, which also help our pediatric patients."
Organizers hope to break last year's record of $128,000.
