BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It looked like a major rescue Wednesday morning at the small boat harbor, but it was all a training exercise for state and local law enforcement agencies.
The State Police helicopter, scuba and hoist operators along with New York DEC Forest Rangers conducted a hoist rescue training. The hoist is utilized to insert rescuers and extract victims during rescue operations.
There are about 40 state troopers throughout the state trained in these type of rescues.
