Two boys on ATV collide with car

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two boys were injured while riding an ATV in Buffalo's Black Rock section Friday night.

Flashing lights are nothing new in the Black Rock neighborhood of Buffalo.

Darlene Russell said, "There's always accidents on each corner around here. We need like, four stop signs on each corner."

Russell blames the number of accidents on a lack of stop signs. She's lived in Black Rock for nearly 20 years. Others say careless children are the reason.

Jerry said, "I see kids riding bikes up and down the street all the time and I have little kids too and I'm trying to teach them the dangers about that. It's just ridiculous what they do. I mean no helmets.:

The accident happened at about 6:30 Friday evening. A 12-year-old and a 14-year-old were taken to the hospital after the ATV they were on collided with a car. The driver of the car was questioned by police at the scene.

The driver's aunt says she is 24-years-old and a good kid who stays out of trouble. Regardless of who's to blame for the accident, safety is a constant concern for residents.

"When I, when I go walk around and see the cars, they don't stop on one side and they do on one side," said Russell.

Jerry added, "We had a couple of car crashes the other day just up the street here, same block."

Jerry, who didn't want to give us his last name, makes sure he knows where his children are all the time.

"Oh yeah, my kids are always with me, always with me," said Jerry.

Buffalo Police say the cause of the accident remains under investigation, but it appears that the female driver had the right of way. She was not injured and the two boys are expected to be okay.
