BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The health of New York's economy can be downright depressing. But a flashy new video is helping to remind many of us why we choose to call Buffalo home.

It's easy to find. It's easy to share. A new video about Buffalo is now online, and going viral.

Executive Director of the Buffalo Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Dottie Gallagher-Cohen said, " It's unbelievable. I put it on my Facebook page. There were 300 views last night, the next day, 1,000, the next 5,000, now it's 10,000. It's great because it helps everyone who lives here and loves Buffalo, really see us through a new set of eyes."

The video is about the city's architecture, culture and preservation. The CVB unveiled it a few months ago in Texas as a way to drive people to next year's National Preservation Conference in Buffalo. It was posted online a few days ago, and is spreading rapidly.

"When you see it in context, the video really makes people proud to live here," said Gallagher-Cohen.

Independent filmmaker John Paget co-produced the piece.

Paget said, "I'm really proud of Buffalo. I tried to capture it, the way I see it, and capture it in the best light possible. We want the "buff" back in Buffalo."

So the bonus of a video going viral is that it gets maximum exposure, hopefully people view it and pass it on. The preservation community is excited.

Preservation Buffalo Niagara Executive Director Henry McCartney said, "Buffalo is certainly coming up as a place where people should come and see what we have here."

"Buffalo is one of two cities in the world to have Wright, Richardson Olmsted and Sullivan in the same place. That's a tremendous set of assets most people don't know about," said Gallagher-Cohen.
