Young boy hit in parking lot dies

BUFFALO, N.Y. (RELEASE) - Wednesday afternoon around 12:15 p.m. police responded to an accident in the Tops parking lot in the 400 block of Niagara St. at Maryland.

Initial reports indicate that a young boy was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot. He was taken by ambulance to Women and Children's Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The Buffalo Police Accident Investigation Unit is currently on scene and in charge of the incident. Police have detained the driver of the vehicle.

At this time, the boy's name is not being released pending complete notification of family.
