BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's not everyday that an international retailer sets up shop in Buffalo's Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.
But the Aldi grocery store chain did just that on Thursday, opening its third store in the city. This one is at 998 Broadway, the famous address right across the street from the Broadway Market.
Aldi District Manager Jena Copelin said, "We're here to service the community and open the doors to an area that definitely I would say could benefit from having an additional retailer in the area."
Mayor Byron Brown said, "We think that Aldi's is going to do extremely well with the consumers in this community. We think that because they will attract more people to this neighborhood to shop, it will help the Broadway Market and all the vendors in the market."
This new store has created about a dozen new jobs.
