BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Botanical Gardens celebrated the opening of its new Wegmans Family Garden on Monday.
The Botanical Gardens and grocery store chain teamed up to completely renovate an 800-square foot greenhouse. It's an indoor "learning garden" that will be open year-round. Children of all ages can explore the plant world and the importance of eating healthy.
Director of Education Lynn Wieser said, "Some of the activities we have planned are a fruit squeeze where children are exposed to exotic fruits and make fresh juice from them, vegetable print place mats where children understand the parts of the plant."
Visitors can plant and dig in the potting area, play in the sand box, and taste growing herbs and vegetables.
