BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Erie County SPCA is now caring for a calf at their Tonawanda facility.
The 2-month-old Jersey calf was found in a garage on Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo. The SPCA does not believe this is a case of animal abuse but rather an ordinance violation. It is illegal to have any farm animal in the city other than chickens.
SPCA Assistant Farm Manager Patricia Burg said, "Definitely not a suitable location to be raising cows, steers, anything like that. And he seems a little tuckered out from his busy day so we're going to let him nap a little then get some milk into him."
Staff at the SPCA have named the calf "Norman" and hope to find him a new home. No one was at the home on Humboldt Parkway when the calf was taken away.
