BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's hard to miss the special visitor that has sailed into Buffalo's Canalside this week.
The Empire Sandy arrived late Monday night and will be in Buffalo until Wednesday night. At 200 feet and 740 tons, it is Canada's largest sailing tall ship. And everything on the ship has been meticulously designed and engineered to mirror a 19th Century three-masted schooner.
The ship's entertainment coordinator, Ian Clarke, said, "We're doing dock tours for the next couple of days. Folks can come on board and find all about the history of the vessel and some of the things that she's done and where we've been and where we're going."
Deckside tours are available until 9 p.m. Tuesday night, and from 12 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Canalside. Tickets are $5 a person. Children 12 and under are free.
