BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A new business in Buffalo is giving dog owners a chance to see their beloved pets in a whole new way.
Canine Splash is a pool facility for dogs that hosted underwater dog photographer Seth Casteel on Sunday at its location.
The business started with Joanne Campagna having a dog that liked to swim. After the place she used to take her dog ended up closing, she partnered up with Jill Bernstein who also owns a water-loving dog. Together, the two opened their own facility.
"I decided it was the best way try to open something on our own that really spoke to conditioning and exercise as opposed to anything medical related. I had a dog that really needed to swim and I needed a pool," said Campagna the co-owner of Canine Spalsh.
The other co-owner of Canine Splash Jill Bernstein said, "One evening a week, we have a certified dog trainer here teaching dogs how to swim and get comfortable. We have people who swim for recreation and for therapy for their dogs."
The owners also use their facility for Dock Diving Training by using a salt water pool that is good for the animals skin/coat and safe to drink.
Seth Casteel's underwater dog photography started while doing a normal photo shoot with a dog and it just wanted to be in the water. "A year ago I was just a guy swimming around in the pool taking pictures for fun. And then pictures became popular on the internet overnight," said Casteel.
Eventually, his success turned into a best-selling book.
Casteel is planning for another photo shoot in August. For more information, check out Canine Splash's website.
