BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo is about to invest more than half a million dollars to make Hoyt Lake a gem in the city's Delaware Park.
The money will be used to put more oxygen in the water of the lake to help clean-up the odor and other hazards to fish and wildlife. The plan includes new landscaping around the lake, repairs to the fresh water wells and installing two brand new water wells.
Mayor Byron Brown said, "It will also aesthetically make the area around Hoyt Lake more attractive, the landscaping will make it more attractive and the access road will make it easier for city crews and Olmsted crews to clean-up the debris that has gathered from the lake."
The state Department of Environmental Conservation is giving the city $150,000 to help pay for the project to improve the water quality in Hoyt Lake.
