BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Comptroller Mark Schroeder fired City Auditor Darryl McPherson on Thursday.

Schroeder says McPherson was dismissed at 12:05 on Thursday for a work-related incident that was brought to his attention within the past week. He did not share details and would only say it was a situation that warranted quick action.

The city comptroller will make another appointment to fill the vacancy.

McPherson had been with the city he was appointed to the law department by then-mayor Anthony Masiello in 1994.
