Cooper not coming for Dyngus Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Being crowned the "Pussy Willow Prince" wasn't tantalizing enough to lure Anderson Cooper to Buffalo's Dyngus Day celebration.

The CNN anchor and talk show host caused an uproar in the Queen City's Polish community last year when Dyngus Day celebrations made his "Ridiculist" and he giggled uncontrollably on air. He later apologized, stating he was not mocking the celebration but rather laughing at his own inability to control his giggles, which he acknowledged sound like "a 13-year-old girl meeting Justin Beiber for the first time."

Dyngus Day organizer Marty Biniasz appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN and accepted the host's apology, inviting Cooper to come to Dyngus Day and become the first ever "Pussy Willow Prince." Cooper agreed, barring any scheduling conflicts.

Word came on Thursday that Cooper would be unable to attend 2013's festivities. His staff told Biniasz that a scheduling conflict did come up late last week.

Cooper sent out  a message on Twitter stating, "Am really said I will not be able to attend Dyngus Day in Buffalo. It sounds like a lot of fun. I have a work assignment I couldn't change."

Regardles, Biniasz is hoping to change his mind through a social media campaign and a website, PartyPooperCooper.com . Those interested in convincing Cooper to come to Buffalo have until Dyngus Day celebrations kick off this year on April 1.
