BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Common Council has officially enacted a law banning those under 21 from Chippewa after 10 p.m., except on Thursday nights.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown voiced his approval of the law, but asked that it be amended. According to how the law was first written, only Thursday nights would allow those under 21 to co-mingle with bar patrons on Chippewa. Mayor Brown asked that there be a sunset provision, that after six months, allowing those under 21 on Thursday nights be allowed to expire unless otherwise amended.
From this point onward, unless a bar in the Entertainment District obtains a special restricted use permit, those under 21 will not be allowed on Chippewa between the hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., with the exception of Thursdays. The Thursday night allowance will end on October 2, 2012 unless the Common Council acts as the date approaches.
