BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The spotlight is on Buffalo's theatre district, where the curtain is going up on a new season of performing arts.
Friday night, Buffalo's theatre district turned into a party district, with a large crowd of revelers celebrating a new theatre season on Main Street with music, dancing and good times.
Carla Christian said, "I'm just having a good time down here with my husband. Got dressed up, come down here for the opening of the theatre season in Buffalo. Everyone should come out and have a good time."
It was opening night for 16 theatres, and the plays opening were as diverse as the crowd watching them.
Mary Ellen Reilly said, "We decided to come here and just look at people and have a good time."
At Shea's, dinner tables were placed on stage and around 500 people sat down for a meal costing between $85 and $100.
"It's stunning. Usually I'm in the seats watching a show, but looking from here it's absolutely beautiful," said Lori Kuzan.
