BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Loved ones of Amanda Wienkowski gathered Wednesday night to mark the anniversary of her death.
The vigil took place on the steps of Buffalo City Hall. The 20-year-old's naked body was found in a city garbage tote in 2009. The original autopsy said she died of an accidental drug overdose. However, a pathologist hired by the family said she was murdered.
Steve Cohen, the attorney for Wienckowski's family, said, "Amanda may never get justice. But through Amanda's help, through the legacy she leaves maybe, just maybe this kind of thing won't happen again."
No one's been charged in her death. The Buffalo Police Department says the case is still open.
