BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - More of our troops landed safe and sound at home Tuesday night after serving in America's war on terror.
Five reservists from the 914th Airlift Wing returned to the embrace of loved ones at Buffalo Niagara International Airport after dangerous duty in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
Major Bill Gourley was greeted by his dad, a retired sheriff's deputy, his wife, and three very happy kids.
His wife, Rebecca, said, "They're super excited. They want horsey rides and to play with daddy."
Major Gourley says he'll be spending "some time with the kids and rest up. It's been a long seven months and not a lot of time off, so hopefully catch some rest and get a good meal."
The major will be receiving the Patriot of the Year Award from New York State Police, where he works as a trooper during his civilian life.
