BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Demolition has begun on the former Deaconess Hospital.

The facility closed in 1986 but up until last December it was home to a long term health care facility. Earlier this year, Kaleida Health turned over the property over to the Community Action Organization of Erie County.

The CAO plans to build a new headquarters, office and community center on the site.
