BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - If you're thinking about studying to get your GED, you might want to do it this year.
The GED Now Task Force met in Buffalo Tuesday morning to encourage adults currently working toward their GED to attend prep programs. The group says, starting next year, all past scores for anyone who has started, but not completed the GED, will not count toward completion.
This will make it harder to earn a diploma.
Dr. Julius Gregg Adams, Executive Director of Educational Opportunities Center at the University at Buffalo, said, "There are enough agencies out there that can prepare you if you feel you don't have the skills, if you don't feel that you are ready for it. My agency and other agencies will work with you to prepare you to take the exam."
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates about 11 percent of adults 25 years or older in Erie County do not have a high school diploma.
