BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A well-known community leader and philanthropist in western New York will now help steer the ship on Buffalo's waterfront.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has appointed Robert Gioia to the board of directors of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation. Gioia is president of the John Oishei Foundation.

He says he looks forward to helping guide the development of a world-class waterfront in his hometown.
