BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A lot of good is coming out of a story that shocked so many people in Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood.
In June, a judge sentenced Scott Huber to a month in jail for stealing $50,000 from a trust fund set up for his friend, Mary Tomaselli. She owned La Tee Da restaurant on Allen Street and died of colon cancer last year.
Wednesday night the stolen funds were divided among four charities close to Tomaselli's heart, including the Kevin Guest House.
Representative Pam Chrzanowski said, "We got a beautiful picture of Mary and put it on a plaque to commemorate her mission to Kevin Guest and to her life and to the beautiful restaurant that she loved so dearly."
George Hyde, a customer and friend of Tomaselli, also made donations to the four charities and presented a check to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is helping Mackenzie Knihinicki, a Daemen College volleball player battling cancer who was featured in a News 4 story you can see here.
