BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The opening of MLK Park has been hindered by months delays. Monday night, the Coalition to Save MLK Park held a public meeting to discuss the status of the park's splash pad.
The group wants to know when construction will finally end and why the splash pad is not open for ice skating. They call the excuses given by the city "unacceptable and ridiculous."
Coalition leader Samuel Herbert said, "This $4.5 million project is paid by taxpayers dollars. Every taxpayer in this city has a right to be updated, to know how the money is used and to know who's getting paid to do the work."

Mayor Byron Brown's spokesman Mike DeGeorge says that although the construction work on the splash pad is complete, it's still an active work site.
