BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Neighbors who wanted to know more about the former Deaconess hospital site heard from the facility's owners Thursday night.
Kaleida Health held a meeting at the urging of the city's planning board. Kaleida wants to tear down the old six-story hospital and health care facility for a new Community Action Organization development.
Common Council member Darius Pridgen said, "Which is the first that many of these residents are hearing about it, and so there has been some concern about that in the community and the reuse of that site."
Kaleida spokesman Michael Hughes added, "We met with block clubs, elected officials, different neighbors, and residents to make sure that we answer all their concerns relative to the demolition."
Kaleida is expected to return to the planning board next week.
