BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - "Read for the Record" is working with communities across the country in the hopes of breaking a world record.
At the Northwest Buffalo Community Center on Thursday, volunteers from Medaille College and Riverside High School read "Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad" to children in elementary school. The goal, aside from promoting reading, is to simultaneously read the same book at the same time across the United States.
Last year, over 25,000 kids in WNY took part in the "Read for the Record" program, which had a record 2.2 million participants nationwide.
