SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Volunteers are spending Thursday and Friday planting more than a-hundred trees around the traffic circle that links McKinley Parkway and Dorrance Avenue near the Botanical Gardens in South Buffalo.
This pre-spring spruce up will bring the parkway back to the way Frederick Law Olmsted designed it more than a century ago.
Bob Smith of the WNY Nursery and Landscape Association said, "Elms, oaks, chestnuts, all things that have past in Buffalo and they look great."
The tree planting is all part of the National Garden Festival's "Leaf A Legacy" project.
