BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - An audit of the Buffalo Police union has led to the resignation of union president Lt. James Panus.
With Panus' resignation, Officer Kevin Kennedy becomes PBA President through the end of the year, with an election to be held in November 2013.
Panus had only been president for about a year when a damaging draft audit was released of the union's finances, detailing lavish trips, dinners and more charged to a union credit card by the former union president.
You can see News 4's full report on the audit here.
The Buffalo News reports that in the last meeting of union members, longtime treasurer Inspector William Misztal resigned. He had served as treasurer during the former union president's term. It was also reported a move to remove Panus as president had been tabled.
