BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Residents on Buffalo's lower west side are calling on the governor to help them breathe cleaner air.
Demonstrators marched from the corner of Busti and Porter to Front Park on Wednesday, calling on Governor Andrew Cuomo to address what they call an asthma crisis.
Activists say asthma rates on Buffalo's lower west side are four times the national average. They blame the traffic from the Peace Bridge for the problem.
The Clean Air Coalition of Western New York says its repeated requests for air monitoring in the neighborhood have been ignored.
