BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A recent survey indicates a 20 percent higher rate of sexual intercourse among Buffalo Public School students than the state average.
That alarming number has prompted a series of community forums on adolescent pregnancy prevention.
Christopher Spicer of Planned Parenthood of WNY said, "Unintended teen pregnancy is a major contributor to poverty. And Buffalo has an issue with poverty. We want to discuss this, see what's the best way to handle this."
Surveys also indicate the number of Buffalo students with four or more sexual partners at 41 percent higher than the state average.
