BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The American Red Cross serving Erie and Niagara Counties has a busy weekend ahead of them.
Two volunteers have been deployed from western New York to help in the hurricane zone, Mike Hoplight of Niagara Falls and Tara Hughes of Amherst.
Jay Bonafede of the American Red Cross said, "Mike is going as a logistics supervisor, he's going to Albany, he might already be there actually, yesterday. Tara's the disaster mental health leave, for the state so she is on her way to White Plains and they'll kind of supervise their own departments."
Bonafede adds the local Red Cross chapter is able to send people East and South because those places are more likely to see very serious damage than western New York.
