BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Tran Hoang is 13-years-old. She was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was just 2-years-old.

Her courageous battle has become an inspiration and this year, she was selected to flip the switch and light the "Tree of Hope" at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

"Roswell Park is just a place where, it helps fight cancer. Never in a million years would I thought of all the people in the world it would happen to me," Hoang said.

She was excited to help encourage her fellow cancer-fighters in Buffalo and around the world. Kaminski Park also lit up with the glow of candles again this year.

Dr. Beth Lenegan, director of pastoral care, said, "By lighting up the park, with everyone passing one light to another, we're showing that, to defeat cancer, it takes more than one person, it takes committed individuals."

Hoang added, "I'm just so blessed and I thank God for everything, especially letting me be here right now, on Earth. I'm proud to say I'm a cancer survivor."
