SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A landmark in South Buffalo will soon be just a memory.
Neighbors on Woodside Avenue tell News 4 the city will begin demolition Wednesday on the childhood home of the late Tim Russert. A fire tore through the two-family house on July 19th, leaving behind heavy damage from flames, smoke and water.
Neighbor Michelle Gill said, "It's horrible. I was there inside the night helping them grab anything that wasn't water damaged, which was almost nothing. We were up past our ankles in water and glass and nails and everything else and it was just a sad sad story."
Six people lived in the house. Everyone who was home at the time escaped unharmed. The fire is still under investigation.
