BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - New Year's Day marked the launch of the Buffalo Sabres Newborn Program, a joint effort between the team and Kaleida Health.
All newborn babies will stay extra warm, thanks to the Sabres, who are handing out baby blankets to all babies born at Millard Fillmore Suburban and Women and Children's Hospitals.
Babies will also get a certificate that says "Future First Round Pick," which Sabres President Ted Black said could one day come true.
"We're going to do this for all the babies born in the two Kaleida hospitals, so we anticipate 8,000 through out the year, and with the depth and number of players we get from western New York, it wouldn't surprise me that in 17, 18 years we are calling somebody's name," Black said.
