BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo school is boasting a brand new look thanks to a big project years in the making.

It's a new day at the old Kensington High School, now known as the Frederick Law Olmsted High School. Students, staff and district leaders came together for the grand re-opening following a $33.5 million reconstruction project.

Kensington opened in 1937 and later closed until Olmsted moved-in in 2007. The improvements include upgrades to music and art rooms, the gym and auditorium, in addition to improvements to energy efficiency and technology.

While the school has a lot of new improvements, the planners made a point of celebrating the buildings original art deco style.

The reconstruction project at Olmsted is part of a greater $1.4 billion joint schools reconstruction project in Buffalo.
