BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Buffalo hospital is launching a new program to improve safety for new mothers and their babies.

Over the next several years, Sisters Hospital will demonstrate "More OB," or managing obstetrical risk efficiently. Doctors, nurses and other professionals promise to do what they can to ensure that every stage in the hospital through delivery and recovery goes safely.

Sally Trevari of Sisters said, "It's going to create a culture where patient safety is the guiding principle. And that's to be the thing you come to work with every day thinking about safe patient care."

Sisters is one of just five hospitals statewide taking part in the program. It's funded in part through a grant from the Oishei Foundation.
