BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - On Thursday, Judge Shelia DiTullio sentenced Amherst Dr. James Corasanti to one year in jail.
The videos above show Judge DiTullio's comments before sentencing Dr. Corasanti, and statements made in court Thursday before sentencing from Alix Rice's mother and father, and both sides of the legal team.
A jury acquitted Corasanti of the most serious charges he faced, only finding him guilty of misdemeanor DWI. Judge DiTullio felt the maximum sentence of one year behind bars was the most fitting punishment for Corasanti, who was driving drunk when he hit and killed 18-year-old Alix Rice as she skateboarded along Heim Road in Getzville last year.
