BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A special ceremony on Tuesday honored close to 300 people who were laid to rest years ago at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Volunteers from People, Inc. cleaned up and edged graves and decorated them with a Christmas wreath. The DD section of Forest Lawn is for orphans and the destitute.
Kevin Horrigan of People, Inc. explained, "Most of them are unmarked in terms of names and some of the sites needed some cleaning and restoration, so Joseph Dispenze (of Forest Lawn) was kind enough to reach out to us and asked us through one of our volunteer programs to come out and clean up some of the sites."
Some of the graves date back to 1870. This is the third cemetery that volunteers from People, Inc. have cleaned up and restored.
