BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Wegmans is hoping the third time's the charm in Buffalo's Black Rock neighborhood.
The supermarket chain wants to build a wine and liquor store on the grassy area between its parking lot and Amherst Street. But neighbors and business owners were not happy with the original design that had the back of the store facing the street.
North District Councilman Joe Golombek said, "We felt that the previous design looks more like something that you would build along Transit or Sheridan, which is fine for the suburbs. But we don't want that in the City of Buffalo in our neighborhood."
Neighbors also weren't happy with a second design. So Wegmans will now meet with a small committee of business owners to work on a design that's a better fit for the neighborhood.
