BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - When a local woman received a bogus parking ticket from Philadelphia, she Called 4 Action. And now, she's seeing results.
Back in the spring, Crystal Stover got a notice from the City of Philadelphia, claiming she had parked illegally last year and owed $96 in fines. Just one problem - Crystal has never been to Philly. But luckily, she could prove it.
The only evidence against Crystal was a license plate she had returned to the DMV nearly 10 years ago. Erie County officials and even the state DMV sent letters to officials in the City of Brotherly Love that Crystal could not have been using those tags last year because they had been destroyed years ago and the numbers had not been duplicated.
No matter, parking enforcement folks in Philly told Crystal to pay up or they would send her case to a collection agency. Then News 4 stepped in.
Crystal Stover just received a letter on official Philadelphia letterhead telling her the case has been dismissed. It stated, "We regret the inconvenience and aggravation that this case of mistaken identity has caused."
If you get stuck on a bureaucratic treadmill, you can Call 4 Action at 879-4900.
