BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - If you're heading to the Buffalo Zoo, be sure to say hello to their new arrivals!
The zoo recently acquired a rhinoceros, a giraffe, and seven leaf frogs. The male giraffe named Moke joined the zoo from the Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, MO in the hopes he will mate with the zoos two female giraffes.
The rhinoceros, named George, comes from the Bronx Zoo and is part of a breeding program. He will not reach sexual maturity for at least another two years, but then it is hoped he will mate with the zoo's female rhino, Tashi.
Lastly, the Solomon Islands leaf frogs are an exciting addition from the Dallas Zoo. This particular breed produces offspring that skips the tadpole stage. Instead, they hatch froglets!
To find out when the animals will be on exhibit, call the zoo at 837-3900.
