KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The former Kane-Doyle Jeep dealership is disappearing from the scene in Kenmore. A big business development is on the way.

The Village of Kenmore is about to get an injection of new construction along Delaware Avenue.

"We're ripping out the foundation of the old dealership and we're going to back fill it and get it ready for the new construction," said Giorgio Panepinto of Pinto Construction.

By the end of next year this site at West Hazeltine and Delaware Avenues, the former Kane-Doyle Jeep dealership, is slated to look like this.

It's a two-story, 21,000 square foot mixed-use building with on-site parking in the back, scheduled to be finished by late summer of next year.

"The top story is going to be used for medical offices and professional offices and the bottom floor will be retail," said Kenmore Clerk Kathleen Johnson.

The property, just north of the Buffalo city line, was acquired by Iskalo Development Corporation in 2008. The building, in keeping with the village's comprehensive plan, will end at the sidewalk area.

Johnson explained, "It just allows the pedestrian in a walkable community to come right face-to-face and to see those buildings and make them very visible."

She added, "It's so in keeping with the character of the neighborhood. It's just going to be a perfect fit for the Village of Kenmore and for specifically our Delaware Avenue corridor."

A second location at Tremaine and Delaware, another piece of the former dealership site, is being prepared for future construction.

"However, there are no plans that have been presented to the village at this time for construction. It's our understanding that at present they're just taking the building down because it was in ill repair," explained Johnson.

Village officials say for now it will be used as a staging area for construction.
