BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Promised, but never delivered.

A frustrated mother-of-the-bride fought for a $1,000 refund.

Park Lane catering took her money, but never delivered her daughter's dream reception.

Nancy Briggs's daughter, Kristen, married in May.

It was a joyous occasion, but not quite the wedding the bride had dreamed of.

"I know she pictures still what it would be like there at the Statler," Nancy explained.

Kristen had her heart set on the Statler. But its shutdown, four months before her wedding, forced the family to scramble for a new location.

Adding to the frustration was their inability to recoup a $1,000 deposit from Park Lane Catering, with whom they had booked the Statler.

Briggs took her complaint to small claims court.

"It's important we've been taken advantage of," Nancy expressed.

The Statler officially closed in January, nearly a year after its operators filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. During that time, events continued but brides were reassured by Park Lane that their receptions wouldn't be affected.

The Briggs weren't the only bridal family forced to find an alternative venue.

News 4's Call For Action received a number of complaints. Briggs' mom emerged from court with a smile.

Park Lane must refund the deposit.

>>>Park Lane said all along via an attorney that they wouldn't stiff anyone

Nancy exclaimed, "It all worked out, beautiful."

The new Mr. and Mrs. Coley married three weeks ago, and celebrated at the Ramada.
