BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Authorities believe someone sprayed a 16-week-old Jack Russell Terrier with lighter fluid before setting it on fire.
Buffalo Police, Buffalo Fire and Buffalo Animal Control were called to Herman Street on Monday after a homeowner returned and found the puppy in the backyard. Officials say the puppy was no longer on fire when they arrived, but its fur was charred and its skin burnt.
The animal had gone into shock and was taken to the vet. Though the injuries are serious, officers say it is expected to survive.
The investigation into the crime continues.
