ALLEGANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - Following a two-month investigation by authorities, three people have been arrested for allegedly operating a meth lab on the southern tier.

The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force worked with multiple agencies to execute a warrant late Thursday night at a home on South Seventh Street in the Village of Allegany. Authorities say inside, they found an active meth lab in the early stages of making the drug.

Six people were taken into custody, three of whom were released pending further investigation. Three others were arrested and charged with third degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine. They are:

  • Anthony Ray, 32, of Allegany
  • Raymond Shaffer, Jr., 36, of Olean
  • Joshua Safford, 31, of Allegany

All three suspects are being held in the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of bail.

Authorities say the home will be remediated to dispose of the dangerous chemicals and residues inside.
