BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Over the past two weeks, State Police have arrested three woman, accusing each of defrauding the NYS Department of Labor by collecting thousands of dollars in benefits they didn't deserve.
Hannah Shaw, 31, of Buffalo was arrested January 31 and charged with third degree grand larceny and 16 counts of first degree falsifying business records. Troopers say Shaw was employed by the City of Buffalo from May 2010 through November 2011, but during that time, she also collected $3,780 in unemployment benefits.
State Police say Yajaira Toro was employed full-time, but collected $15,089.75 in unemployment benefits from July 2010 through May 2011. The 40-year-old Amherst woman was arrested February 5 and is charged with third degree grand larceny and 21 counts of first degree falsifying business records.
And Evelyn Archie, 40, of Cheektowaga was arrested on February 12. Troopers say Archie was working full-time, but collected $6,869 in unemployment benefits from August 2010 through January 2011. Archie is facing charges of third degree grand larceny and first degree falsifying business records.
All three women have pending court dates in Buffalo City Court.
