WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Kenmore man and Amherst woman were charged with endangering the welfare of a child after they were allegedly found smoking marijuana with a 15-month-old child in a motel room Friday night.
This story according to the Niagara Gazette, says a Niagara County Sheriff's deputy responded to a report involving a child in a room with his father who was smoking marijuana.
Father of the child, Paul Seagrave Jr., 28, of Kenmore gave his bag of weed and a marijuana smoking device to the deputy upon his arrival.
The Niagara Gazette quotes Seagrave saying, "I know it was stupid and I'm so sorry."
Brianna Myers, 18, of Amherst is the child's babysitter of seven years she told the deputy. She was also in the Wheatfield motel room with Seagrave.
She apologized for her actions to the deputy as well.
According to the deputy, he saw the child sitting on a bed when he arrived and the room was filled with smoke.
A co-worker of Seagrave's was also in the room smoking with the two. He was not charged.
The child appeared to be okay and New York State Child Protective Services was notified.
Another bag of marijuana, 11 Zanax pills, and seven unidentified pills were found on the nightstand.
Seagrave was charged in total with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Additional charges are pending.
